Grid and outside users at NIKHEF

On the regular production systems

At NIKHEF, we do not allow `outside' users to use local production computing systems. We do not support `guest' accounts nor shared `group' accounts. You can only run your jobs on NIKHEF internal production system if you have a local NIKHEF account. If you feel you're eligible for such an account, contact the Computing Technology group. Ask your contact person at NIKHEF to request an account for you. The relevant page to point to is http://www.nikhef.nl/nikhef/computing/requests/account.html.
Note that we will no longer accept requests for Grid use of the production systems. That service has been discontinued.

Cycle scavenging

The system for harvesting idle cycles from the existing pool of desktops at NIKHEF is Condor. At the moment, no support for cycle scavenging on the NIKHEF desktop machines is available. We will keep the local user base informed about if and when such a service will be available.

On the Farms as an EGEE or LCG user

Your request will be processed by the representative of your experiment or virtual organizations. Within one day of approval, access to the LCG production facility for your Grid credentials will be enabled. See the LCG Registrar for application information.

Farming with a local account

If you already have an account on the NIKHEF production systems, you might be elegible for running on the farms in a "private" mode. In that case, a new "farm" account will be created for you. Please contact the NIKHEF Grid/PDP support directly at grid.support@nikhef.nl.

About Certificates

Be aware that we do not accept the Globus CA as a sufficient certificate authority to validate your identity. You must present a certificate that was issued by one of the EUGridPMA CAs, or the FermiLab kCA. A complete list of LCG approved CAs is available from the LCG web.
